S-QDP Tubular Signal Surge Protector
S-QDP protects sensitive field instruments from lightning and switching transients with 10kA nominal and 20kA maximum discharge capability per line. An ultra-low protection level of ≤15V and response time below 1ns help clamp dangerous transient energy before it reaches transmitter electronics.
Surge protection remains continuously connected without compromising normal instrument communication. With loop impedance below 5Ω, insertion loss below 0.5dB and DC–10MHz bandwidth, S-QDP supports transparent transmission of standard industrial analog and fieldbus signals.
The compact stainless steel tubular body is designed for in-line installation near the field instrument, junction box or instrument cable entry. Its IP67 enclosure and M20×1.5 connection simplify retrofit protection without modifying the instrument or rebuilding the control cabinet.
Nominal Discharge Current (In, 8/20μs waveform):10kA per line, rated for repeated surge events
Maximum Discharge Current (Imax, 8/20μs waveform):20kA per line, withstands extreme lightning surge conditions
Voltage Protection Level (Up @ In):≤15V; ultra-low residual voltage prevents damage to sensitive transmitter electronics
Response Time:<1ns; zero action delay for transient lightning and switching surges
Leakage Current:<1μA; no measurement zero drift or extra load on 2-wire loop circuits
Surge Cycle Endurance:≥20 operations at nominal discharge current
Protection Topology:3-stage cascaded design: primary gas discharge tube + voltage limiting clamp + precision filtering
Protection Coverage:Full common-mode + differential-mode surge suppression on all signal and power lines
Compatible Loop Types:4-20mA analog, HART protocol, RS485 Modbus, NAMUR sensors and 24V DC instrument power loops
