SPD DIN Rail Signal Surge Protector
SPD is designed to protect industrial instrumentation and control circuits against transient overvoltage caused by lightning and switching events. With a nominal discharge current of 10kA, maximum discharge current of 20kA and response time of ≤1ns, it rapidly diverts surge energy before it reaches sensitive downstream electronics.
SPD is available in different configurations for industrial analog, temperature and communication circuits. Selection options include analog signals, AI/AO signals, RTD/TC temperature signals and RS485, allowing surge protection to be matched to the actual field loop rather than relying on a single fixed configuration.
Designed for industrial cabinet integration, SPD uses a compact rail-mounted structure that simplifies installation alongside PLC, I/O and other control components. Single- and dual-channel configurations plus 2-, 3- and 4-wire options allow the protection arrangement to be matched to different field-loop requirements while keeping cabinet layouts organized.
Maximum Continuous Operating Voltage (Uc):36V DC, compatible with 24V standard industrial instrument loops
Nominal Discharge Current (In, 8/20μs waveform):10kA per line; withstands repeated surge events
Maximum Discharge Current (Imax, 8/20μs waveform):20kA per line; handles extreme lightning surge conditions
Response Time:<1ns; zero action delay for transient lightning and switching surges
Rated Operating Current (IL):500mA per channel; supports full-scale operation of 2-wire transmitters
Leakage Current @ Uc:<1μA; no static power loss, no transmitter zero drift induced
Surge Cycle Endurance:≥20 operations at nominal discharge current with no performance degradation
Protection Topology:Two-stage cascaded design: primary gas discharge tube + rear-end precision clamping circuit
Compatible Loop Types:4-20mA analog, HART protocol, RS485 / Modbus fieldbus, NAMUR sensors and 24V instrument power loops
